JOSEPH AKHIGBE

Mr. Joseph O. Akhigbe is a qualified and seasoned Estate Surveyor and Valuer. He graduated with a degree in Estate Management from the University of Ife, Ile Ife, Nigeria in 1987 and after having garnered experience from working in some well established practices in Nigeria, he set up his own firm in January, 2001, known as Joe Akhigbe & Associates, Estate Surveyors & Valuers and Real Estate Consultants. He consults for Banks, Multinationals,Oil Companies, Embassies, The Federal Ministry of Works of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, some Parastatals of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as well as high networth individuals. He has special interest in the Valuation of Properties, Estate Agency, Property Development and Property Management. He is a fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) and was at one time the Treasurer of the said Institution between the period 2008 – 2010. He is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) based in the United Kingdom and which is the foremost Real Estate Institution in the world. He is also a member of the International Real Estate Institute based in the United States of America as well as the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI) with headquarters in Paris, France. He is also a Senior Certified Valuer and has attended several seminars and conferences on real estate matters all over the world. In quest for further education, he attended a Real Estate Management Program: New Conditions, New Leaders at the Harvard Business School in Boston, United States of America in October, 2010. He also attended a Real Estate Executive Seminar at the Harvard Business School in Boston, United States of America in April, 2011, a seminar which emphasized on the capital market, innovative ventures and business strategy where the issue of Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) was dealt with in details. He was the former President of the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI), Nigerian Chapter. He is currently the President of the Africa and Near East Region of the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI). He is married with kids and he is widely travelled.
